    Tub drain sealing advice.

I am replacing a cast iron bath tub with a brass drain/overflow. New Tub is a new cast iron Kohler. Drain/over flow is a new brass Price Pfister for cast iron tubs. I placed the rubber gasket on the brass elbow under the tub and lined it up from under the tub. I put plumbers putty on the...

    Help ID faucet.

Jimbo, I replyed over you. You are exactly right the letters are on the other side and the hoses do tend to rap up; I intend to purchase the hoses too. I probably will try to replace the whole valve assemble or spend a little more and replace the entire faucet. Right now it seems the...

    Help ID faucet.

Thank you for the replys. That is the information I was looking for. I want to replace the whole valve assembly. I took the old one out and brought it to the place I bought it; they didn't have it but said to call PP and it was warranteed. I needed some trim parts for another shower faucet...

    Help ID faucet.

I am trying to identify a faucet valve assembly that I think is a Price Pfister. I called Price Pfister and sent them these pictures as they requested but customer person says it isn't their product. I am pretty sure the faucet is Price Pfister but I am not sure enough to proceed. It has...

    Earthquake strapping question.

I am moving a bladder pressure tank to four foot high platform. I am thinking I should probably do some type of holding system similar to what we do to the hot water tank. My hot water tank has two metal braces which go from the walls to the top of my tanks sheet metal without going into the...

Question on high copper and lead levels.

Bob NH, Thanks for the information; I have a couple of questions more. Can I use the Harmsco filter and eliminate the chlorine? The site didn't say. I would like to get rid of the chlorine. Is that PP BB 20 1 filter a whole house filter or only a point of use filter. $55 a year is...

Awful sewer gas smell in the baby's room

With all these experienced plumbers around here one must also have some seagoing experience that could address an exploding head. But if my humor doesn't help let me offer my sympathy. And if it was me I and the former owners wern't very nice I would bankrupt them. But then...

Question on high copper and lead levels.

Thank you for your reply. Let me give you some more backgrown information. I have tried six wells on my 5 acres with no luck. So I am pretty much stuck with the spring. Because they are springs with surface contamination I have to chlorinate. I really would like to try the UV and will look...

Question on high copper and lead levels.

I have recieved back my lab test of my spring water and it shows low pH, 5.8 and the water is somewhat corrosive, -2.8. The lab suggested a copper and lead test which shows after setting all night and the first draw; copper of 1900 ppb (ug/L) and lead at 14 ppb. I guess the high copper is...

Is foam insulation needed on PEX?

I was thinking of the heat loss aspect. I don't have to much worry about the freezing except some unprotected areas. I hadn't though about the condensation. That would be only on the cold water pipes, correct? When I had the house built I only specified the hot lines. Thanks for the replys.

Is foam insulation needed on PEX?

I am going to replace some or all of my copper water pipes with PEX. I had the copper hot water pipes wrapped with foam insulation when I had the house build: should I do the same with the PEX? I assume it would save energy and keep the water hotter. Thanks.

    Copper or PEX?

I have read most of the old threads about pinholes in copper pipe and wonder if I have a problem with corrosive water and should replace the copper with PEX? How does a person figure out if it would be worth the considerable expence to replumb a house? House is 15 years old with copper all...
