    Ok, so I actually measred and was way off the first time. The distance from the flange to the top of the finished floor (tile) is only 7/8". Does this still warrant raising the flange? Other options? (2 wax rings, spacer, other?)

    Thanks for the advice, I've decided to fix it permanently so I'll be disconnecting the valve. I plan to use pipe dope on the threads this time. Should I use this in conjunction with teflon tape? Or just stick with the Pipe Dope?
