How did you end up doing with this? My Kohler Underscore tub also has a thick flange. The tub actually looks very similar to yours. I am planning on using 5/8” wallboard to make it flush or stick out past the flange.

Are these screws okay for securing tub flange to studs? Or do I need the countersinking kind? This is a Kohler Underscore tub. I'm going to need to use 5/8" backerboard because the Kohler tub flange is so thick. ]

My plan is to have a tub spout w/ built-in diverter hooked up the the bottom port of a R10000 UNBX. And a handheld shower hooked up to the top port of the R10000UNBX. I don't want a separate wall mounted diverter because that, in my mind, is expensive and looks ugly with 2 trims on the wall.

When used with a R10000-UNBX, why can't the tub spout come from the bottom, but the handheld come from the top, like a regular shower? Not that it matters to me too much because a plumber will be doing the work. But I just didn't want to buy a separate diverter and trim. Big $ for no reason...
