    Moen shower handle, Can’t pull faucet out

    I’m trying to replace a Moen 1225 cartridge in my shower. Managed to get the handle off, and removed the screw that holds everything together, but can’t pull the rest of the faucet out. Bought a sleeve puller, but hesitate to put more pressure on it. Am I missing something? See picture...

    by round cap, you mean just the front cap, and not the entire handle that turns, right? So, if I get a couple of channel locks and work the front cap against the rest of the handle it should unscrew (with sufficient force)?
