Best way to clean kitchen drain

My clean out is about midway down the line and tilted at 45 degrees. I don't have enough water pressure to do an effective cleaning since I'm on a well. I did think maybe I would stuff a rag in the clean out then fill the pipe up with vinegar and baking soda and let her sit. This would...

Best way to clean kitchen drain

I noticed my kitchen sink doesn't drain as well as it should. I have cleaned both P traps and all the other pipes under the two sinks so I know those don't affect this. It's a 25' run under the house (2" pipe). I did go under and try to auger with a small hand held auger yesterday without...

    Water softener choices

Thanks, I found that my dealer who is pretty far away covers my area. I have another dealer coming by who has Westinghouse equipment. I can't seem to find anything about its reliability.

    Water softener choices

I have a 29 year Kinetico in my crawlspace which my repair person says that parts are becoming a problem to obtain. they recommend a Water-Right brand. I'm no expert in this other than I know Kinetico is pretty large. I plan to get estimates for replacement. Any brands recommended and/or...

    Water hammer issue

Yes, it does travel a bit further now. Say 30' on each 3/4" PEX. Probably 50' with the recirc line. I have ordered some Sioux Chief arrestors for my washer. I will most likely replace the fill valve repair kit next on the toilet. If it still persists I will try a mini arrestor under the...

    Water hammer issue

This is the funny thing. I would think since I over secured all the piping, padded, We added the water heater and some 3/4" PEX on the cold and hot water lines. We used 1/2" PEX for the recirculation line. None of this occurred before the new heater. I did not have a recirculation line...

    Water hammer issue

I just recently installed a 50 gallon water heater in my garage. I had a low boy in the crawlspace and decided I'm too old and fat to keep climbing under there. A plumber friend from work (I work at a hospital) helped me. We added a recirculation line. I insulated the recirculation and...

    Kinetico Model 30 softener whine

I have never used acid cleaner. I use Iron Out now and again. The tech told me if I do use Iron Out don't use it every time because it can ruin the resin. I don't remember what the iron quantity is, but it is quite a bit. This photo reminds me it is time to change the pre-filter also.

    Kinetico Model 30 softener whine

Looking at that head the iron deposit looks pretty rough. How do I clean that or do I just leave it alone?

    Kinetico Model 30 softener whine

My system has a non-powered head I believe. The two acid neutralizer tanks have the control box mounted above them. I will send photos once I get off work.

    Kinetico Model 30 softener whine

I have an annoying whine on occasion. I sometimes hear it when water is being used, say like a shower. The other night I heard it and no one was using any water. My regeneration is for around 1 in the morning and this was around 10 pm. My regeneration is a normal whoosh sound. I can hear...

    Electric Water Selection

I have well water and a water softener. Good sized crawl space. Luckily, I have two 200 amp panels (wired for sight and sound) with lots of extra space for add ons. My rationale for the 3 blade set up is I have frequent ground strikes from lightning and didn't want anything coming back and...

    Electric Water Selection

Thanks. I'll go with the Rheem. I'm moving this from the lowboy under my house to a more central location in my house. If I place it in my garage it would be further away from my sinks/toilets. Not to mention, I would have to protect it from the cold weather. I've been debating as to...

    Electric Water Selection

So, I'm looking at replacing my electric water heater in the next few months. Currently, I have a 38 gallon lowboy in my crawlspace and I wish to install one in my house near my washer/dryer area which is more central for my needs. Home Depot and Lowes carry the Rheem and A.O. Smith brands...

    Toilet selection

So, I went out and purchased my Drake toilet today at my local plumbing supply house. I got the 1.28 gpf tank. The numbers were a little weird for them because they sell each separately, but it turned out well in the end. Should be installing soon. The guy behind the counter actually...

    Toilet selection

I forgot to mention this is for standard household use. I live in the county and have a well and water softener.

    Toilet selection

So, I've read the descriptions and have decided the Drake II is the best selection for me price wise. I prefer a one piece, but the cost goes up. I've seen the term cefiontect glaze on the Toto site. Is that CEFIONTECT? I've also seen tornado and cyclone flush. Are they used interchangeably...

    Toto Drake and water softener

I'm getting ready to purchase the Drake toilet and wonder if there are any issues with using it in a home with a water softener. Although I have the softener, I still sometimes have very fine undissolved iron in my water which settles to the bottom if the toilet is not used for several days...
