    Leaking propress fitting

Are you sure the O-Ring was in the fitting before pressing? If it was, it would have blown onto the pipe it seems. I can see the O ring leaking but I can't imagine any pressure that would blow it physically out of the fitting. John

    PEX Expansion Issues

As an amateur, I've done about 75 PEX A expansion connections and never had a leak in any of them. I did use a powered expander which does a nice job of rotating the head with every expansion to make sure no leak channels are created. I also take scrupulous care of the heads to make sure...

Leak (?) in New PEX 'B' system

I haven't seen it, but I've heard the same thing - makes sense though. Make sure you aren't losing pressure through the gauge you're using. John

    PEX Expansion Issues

If you ask me, any PEX A that is likely to leak at the expansion joint is just as likely to leak anywhere along the pipe. Here's the thing - most people with Uponor A never have a single leak, but those that do seem to have a constant leak issues both at the expansion, formed radius, or even...

    PEX Expansion Issues

I don't see how. The big advantage of A was the F1960 expansion fittings/system. Some B PEX is now rated for using the type A expansion system and fittings. If you're going to crimp PEX A, then just use B unless you already have A in stock. John

    PEX Expansion Issues

With enough fittings installed flow rate is noticeable. Expansion also offers a more secure connection, and no tool calibration is ever required. Depending on your PEX B, you might have been able to use the F1960 expansion fittings. John

    PEX Expansion Issues

That may be partially true, but there are instances of white Uponor also failing.. John

Uponor PEX issues - 5 leaks in 2 months. House built in 2015. Need advice.

The leaky pipes by themselves wouldn't have any effect on your odd hot-cold water issues. But you used the term "scalding". If unmixed hot water got into the PEX pipes it would certainly prematurely age them. The max your water temperature that reaches your plumbing after the mixing valve...

    Ugly pex stub to copper

Whatever you do, make sure any PEX that was outside the house is cut out and replaced with either copper or new PEX. You do not want that UV exposed PEX inside the wall. John

    Ugly pex stub to copper

Is the water heater outside the house??

Uponor PEX issues - 5 leaks in 2 months. House built in 2015. Need advice.

It means that *right now* you are having problems with the hot water side. Since heat is one of the factors that ages any pipe, it makes sense the hot water side would fail first. Since your house is only ten years old now and has experienced failures after only a few years since it was...

How to deal with freezing pipes

Question, are the traps less likely to split because they are open on both sides? Pumps trap water so we know the answer to that. John

    Septic line clog question

I don't know if roots are a problem on glued PVC joints or not, but make absolutely sure anything you flush is septic safe - you don't want to kill any beneficial bacteria flora. John

    checking 220 voltage question

LOL. I had a tenant who was a year behind in rent (I don't need the lecture fellas!), and she called because there was a problem with the kitchen sink. I told her to call a plumber and we'll call this month a wash. Well, she didn't call the plumber but she did call the health department - and...

    checking 220 voltage question

I've seen several failures of the connections right outside the house where the crimps are made between the utility and the home taking out one side only. Hopefully the neutral doesn't open... John

Presoldered copper pipe...good or bad idea?

Not positive, but I think they're big sellers in the U.K., at least all the videos I've seen on youtube that use them seem to be British. John

    Options to replace oil boiler

I'm also in CT, and electric rates will be high for at least the next 20 years, and maybe forever. Propane is expensive in CT because of delivery charges, but I see some people say they are paying less than $2?? Of course, oil has more BTU than propane so consider that as Syl points out. A...

Difference in combustion readings with diesel compared to #2?

No, don't have the equipment to check either. The CO would be useful but my understanding of combustion is that the O2 would be proportional to the CO2 and some testers provide one or the other from one sensor? John

Difference in combustion readings with diesel compared to #2?

I ran out of heating oil yesterday (wasn't paying attention) and put in 10 gallons of diesel to tide us over. After I put it in, I bled the Beckett and ran it until the water temp was over 140F and I took a combustion reading (it sounded and looked fine), and was surprised to have a CO2 of 7.5...

    Pex A with Viega manifold?

You can attach any brand PEX A in the same way you would attach B, so just use B fittings and crimps, but as long as you're going to crimp for the Viega manifold, why not just use B throughout? John
