    Gas union in attic

I thought about a right-left but I was reading some old posts where some people weren't too keen on them saying they are tricky to get right. I still may go that route though. I would say my skill level is advanced, I have done quite a bit of threaded pipe over the years. I always pressure check...

    Gas union in attic

I am re-locating a gas pipe that was originally run exposed in the laundry room, I am putting it in the wall. I will need to use a union to re-connect (The union is presently exposed in the laundry room). It is allowed where I live as long as it in not installed in a concealed location. I will...

    The wet wall from hell

Why was I thinking the AAV has to be above the flood rim? Was this ever the case? Or are you saying to tee it into the trap arm in a place where it can be extended up to the highest point possible? Come to think of it I have seen them in RVs well below the flood rim.

    The wet wall from hell

Thank you. The house main is 4" and I've only seen snow here about 4 times in the 55 years I've lived here, and it was gone before noon.

    The wet wall from hell

Coming off the 2" stack there is an ABS adapter reducing it to 1.5" , a short piece of 1.5" ABS then a no hub is used to attach the original galvanized vent stack which is only 1.25", the no hub is a 1.5" x 1.5" so it fits poorly. The vent is for the washer, laundry sink and kitchen sink. The...

    The wet wall from hell

Doing my kitchen/laundry remodel and this is what was inside the laundry wall. It is only a 4" wall and originally would have had 2" cast iron inb there for the washer and laundry tub. The kitchen joins in under the house. 2 of the studs in this LOAD BEARING wall were doing absolutely nothing...

Rough in for an offset kitchen sink

I made my wall cavity today for the plumbing, took out the inner brick wall and installed a lintel above. I had originally planned to go 2 courses higher but once I removed the plaster and saw there was a rowlock course at 16" and not wanting to mess with that I stopped at 16 and slipped the...

Thinking about doing my own PEX

So I am a pretty accomplished DIY and worked a bit in plumbing, welding and was in the electrical trade for 30 years and had a residential/commercial license for 16 years till I retired. I have re-piped my entire house with copper and all the DWV with ABS. But I never did PEX, just figured I...

    Laundry drain for pedestal washer

When installing the washer box for a pedestal washer (pedestal is 14" high) what is the ideal height for the trap and the washer box? The pipe is 2" ABS and the washer box will be mounted over a 12" base cabinet (36" high) between the washer and dryer for easy access.

Rough in for an offset kitchen sink

Working on a kitchen remodel and the sink will be a single bowl 28" X 17.5" with a depth of 9" and set into a 36" sink base. The drain will be a standard right hand offset located 6" O/C from the right inside wall and centered front to back. There will be no disposal now or in the future. The...

    Cast Iron from toilet.

Yes there was a 2" vent at the elbow. I couldn't see it from where I could get to, the plumber's helper was able to squeeze all the way in there

Single hole bath faucet water line replacement

I had a Kohler lav faucet spring a leak at one of those lines. I had to get a small socket (10mm?) and cut it to fashion a sort of deep line wrench with a slot wide enough to fit over the supply line, which I then welded to a handle. Works great to get the line off Kohler faucets but then I...

    Cast Iron from toilet.

House built in 1952, I can see they had to use 2-90 degree fittings back to back from the closet bend to get down to the proper level, is this standard with today's ABS or can the closet bend be fitted with a length of 4" straight pipe to bring it to the proper level? What about two 45s instead...
