Kitchen sink drain - is it done correctly? Looking for your comments and suggestions

Hi All, I'm in a south Chicago suburb. An inspector just went through my house for a general permit (vanities, painting, floors, etc) & said I need a cleanup at the kitchen sink drain. It's a typical setup: vertical drain with vent & a horizontal branch for the drain. Given there are slipjoint...

Make a pump quiet check valve with a wye?

Yes I saw that but wasn't sure if there was more to it than just an air chamber, like any additional components. And would it easily get water logged? Effective, or as effective as a "quiet" CV? Looks promising :)

Make a pump quiet check valve with a wye?

I have a typical loud thump when my ejector pump goes off, obviously from my check valve. I went to the big box store but they don't sell 2" quiet/silent/klunkless CVs. They actually have a licensed plumber working there, which is a surprise. He told me when he installs pumps he puts a wye...

    Home made P-Trap

Can anyone point to any references on code specs for a p trap? From time to time I have to make one as well, to go around a floor joist for a bath tub, etc. I happen to be in a Chicago suburb that uses Illinois plumbing code. I couldnt find anything. See attached for what I'm looking for...

Max trap arm length for a shower drain (2")

I found this, think it's relevant to me. But still curious about my questions above if anyone can enlighten me. Like based on these resources below, does that mean 8ft applies to NOTHING? ftp://www.ilga.gov/jcar/admincode/077/07700890sections.html and...

Max trap arm length for a shower drain (2")

I know you're a licensed plumber (and I am not), but I'm just trying to understand this. Please explain :) What is the differentiation here? A 2" pipe/drain at 1/4 inch per foot allows 8' maximum distance until you have to revent, since that's the distance it should still have air at that...

Just installed cast iron shower drain is already rusting

I like the cheap fix of wire brushing it and coating it, especially if you'll seldom use it (?) Is it in a basement where the worse case scenario when it rusts through it goes into the gravel and dirt - or is this on a 2nd level or something where it'll start rotting and molding the surrounding...

    Basement venting

I know this post is old and I am not a licensed plumber, rather trying to check my knowledge for educational purposes. I'm seeing issues with this drawing, please correct me if I'm wrong: shower is 1.5" instead of 2", 1.5" vent in the middle of the drawing should be 2" (above the word "TUB"), &...

Dropping sink drain for new deeper sink

Do you have a window at your sink? I'm guessing you do. That's why the drain goes past a few studs then down... Before it goes down it probably connects to a tee where vent goes up and drain goes down. While you can't see a vent directly above that location it can travel in the Attic. Your...

Seal threaded copper/brass connection and make in reliable

Every plumber I know uses both: tephlon & dope. I prefer the rectorseal Tru Blu. It has stopped the tiniest leaks where other dopes & tape have failed.

    Moving gas for range

Just buy a longer flex hose. If you need to pay someone an additional $75 to break a little drywall & put a shorter stub or elbow no biggie. Or let it stick out a couple inches worst case if you don't want to hire someone.

Just installed cast iron shower drain is already rusting

Umm that's a lot of rust. Brand new not used? Sure?! :) Seriously, are you sure this was all replaced? How long ago exactly? Post some more pix, zoomed out. I've seen 60 year old CI in much better condition. Though I have heard of lawsuits about cheap Chinese CI not lasting the way it used to.

    Drain proposal correct?

Terry: thx for reply! Yes my 1st wye off 3" is a 2" takeoff for wet vent to lav & roof. Other wye is 2" from wet vent PVC to 1.5" takeoff to tub. So if I keep 2% is everything good? Thanks!

    Drain proposal correct?

Ha, that's a temp jack post. Crooked county allows PVC in houses, even smaller buildings, specifically I'll leave to the pros.

How to connect 1.25" Copper to Polybutylene

Sorry I can't help, but maybe you can get a few different fittings from this site to prepare: Supplyhouse dot com. I use them all the time. If you get all possibilities then hopefully you'll cover your basis; cant be too many sizes within reason!

How to connect 1.25" Copper to Polybutylene

Do you have a buffalo box, and key? That's a good place to start. Without it I wouldn't touch it. Like Terry mentioned, most of the labor is digging. So if you want to make it a DIY (partial), do all the digging and have a plumber do the line (quick & easy part). This should save a ton of $$$...

Glacier Bay . Strange Bathroom Faucet Question

I agree. Get a new faucet: Moen or Delta is my preference since parts are easy to come by. Glacier bay is cheap.
