    ABS to galvanized DWV

I spoke the the abs fitting manufacturer and they stated there specifications. Note, this is not Code. If it is threaded plastic to plastic acceptable, if it is male plastic to female steel and not on a hot water line it is acceptable, if it is male threaded steel to female plastic not...

    Uponor PEX problem ALERT

I dont know if any of this is fact except Fergusson not selling the colored PEX A in Oregon state, but there is a you tube video of this problem using pex A in the red or blue coloring. It has something to do with the process of dieing the pipe and its effects on the integrity at the joints. I...

    ABS to galvanized DWV

I need to transition from ABS to existing Galvanized DWV pipe. The Vent portion of the Galvinzed is in perfect shape but the drain side is corroded. While I have the plumbing exposed I am taking out the drain galv and replacing with ABS. Is it OK to use a female slip/ male threaded ABS fitting...

Pex A fitting is rotating by hand after joining

I am using a Dewalt expander on Pex A 1/2 inch pipe and fittings. After joining a 90 for a sink stub out I grabbed the end of the stub out and it rotated around the fitting with some resistance. I can turn it 360 degrees. Is this normal? I waited 15 minutes and tried again and it still rotates...

That does look about the same as what I got. Uponor looks more white. Thanks for the image.

New Jones Stephens PEX A Yellow

I purchased 100 ft of 1/2 inch Jones Stephens Pex A from Ferguson plumbing supply, and it has a yellow tint to it out of the box. Is this normal or was it exposed to UV.

Hot water main 1/2 inch? Update system

Not sure I understand, you stated "I would run 1/2 inch" earlier (post #2). There is 50' of 1/2 inch galvanized going to it from the original build. All the hot water lines in the house coming out of the WH are 1/2 inch original. Are you recommending running 3/4 from the water heater and a sub...

Hot water main 1/2 inch? Update system

That is what they originally did 60+ years ago. I guess that is why I asked about re-configuring the system. No way to relocate the water heater. Could you just do a manifold recirc system for the hot water side? I may have another issue with the PRV system. I see the PRV is at the end of the...

Hot water main 1/2 inch? Update system

The main bath is 50' of pipe run to the water heater. The second bath is 25' of pipe run. Kitchen and laundry are with in 10' of WH (kitchen upstairs, laundry in basement). There is a tub in the main bath, but only a shower in second bath. Each bath has only one vanity sink and faucet. There is...

Hot water main 1/2 inch? Update system

Running Pex A to replace old galvanized water line. I noticed that my main incoming is 3/4 inch, but coming out of the water heater it is 1/2 inch. I did a little research and found this was common practice (less cold water to flush) and helps to get hot water to a fixture quicker. Given I am...

Galvanized pipe and Partial Pex A replacement

Thank you for the professional opinions on my question. Could someone verify the correct transition fitting from steel to Pex A. Uponor catalogue shows a ProPex LF NPT threaded to Pex A fitting for steel to Pex transition. Is this the right style fitting and would there be risk of corrosion with...

Galvanized pipe and Partial Pex A replacement

Thanks for the reply. I understand the galvanized has a lower functioning life span, but the only section I would leave in is the newer stuff I put in the other bath when I remodeled it 10 yrs ago. Besides functioning lifespan there is no other reason that mixing the 2 in one system would be...

Galvanized pipe and Partial Pex A replacement

I am doing a complete master bath remodel on my 1961 home with a basement. I want to replace the existing galvanized with Pex A in the new bath and most of the accessible existing pipe. Most of the galvanized is open access and under the floor joist in the basement. I would have easy access to...
