Replacing ancient exterior door handleset and locks with new

I don't think what I have is even made anymore (see pics). With a new handleset, there would be a huge gap left where the push lock buttons are now. Anyone know if there is some kind of metal filler plate sold for cases like this?

Mortise locks are still made, try searching for "entry mortise lockset" or something like that.
