I need to move a toilet waste pipe that ties into a cast iron stack.the toilet flange is too far out from the wall by about 5 inches. Leaving the toilet tank setting out from the wall.
So does the complete cast iron need to be cut off ? Or other ideals

Mark where you want the pipe to go up through the floor...can't really help without knowing that.

Is that a floor joist in the way? Or wait.............did someone cut that? There may be a reason it's out so far. You might have a bit of cutting and re-framing in your future if you want to pull it back.

Depending on where you want to move things, you might be able to remove the existing Wye fitting, and rotate it to come up on the other side of the joist. If the ideal location would be through the joist, then, as Terry said, reframing things can solve it. But, really need to know where you want it to offer a good solution (assuming there is one - good is relative!).

ALso note, that if it is a 15" rough-in, with some toilets, if you were to put in one designed for a 14" RI, it would then only sit an extra inch out from the wall with no plumbing changes. You can usually fudge the location of the toilet on the flange a bit, so you might gain another 1/4-3/8" or so back towards the wall. Some of the Toto toilets can do that...you'd want one that utilizes their UniFit adapter...you'd have to buy the 14" version...it comes only with the 12" one (no credit for returns).

Thanks everyone the floor joist is in the way. A company came out and suggested use an offset flange . But I don’t know if this offset flange is a good ideal or not.

Some offset flanges are good, but they won't offset 5 inches.

https://www.oatey.com/ASSETS/DOCUMENTS/ITEMS/EN/Submittal_Offset_Flange.pdf does 2 inches, and most do less.

https://www.siouxchief.com/products...ffset-flange/fullflush?template=P3Accessories does 1.5 inches and may be less restrictive.

I installed an Sioux City offset flange . I believe everything is done correct the flange goes into a 4 inch pipe and a coupling about 4 inches down then into the cast iron stack. The flange is level in all directions bolted down with spray foam around the flanges and tile floor to seal everything.
toilet will be TOTO Entrada small. But the plumbing supply store said the same as Terry Said , small but a great flush. There is 2 inches between the tank and wall.
Like to of gotten it closer to the wall ,but the floor joist was in the way.

You can go to a 14 inch rough toilet, such as a Vespin with the 14 inch Unifit, or other Toto Unifit toilet. Much bigger bucks than Entrada, however. Still, you will avoid that 2 inch gap from bothering you in the future.

Thanks Reach4 the house is a rental and the offset flange moved it back 1 1/2 inches as you suggested and the toilet that Terry suggest just worked out great. So I take the 2 and be very happy with it.
thanks to everyone
