Hi, I have a shower that I want to replace the trim on. I took off the old plate and the valve piece says brass tech. I googled and it looks like their shower heads and handles are in the $800-$1200 range!! Do I have to use their trim? Specifically, I want to replace the shower head, and the old neck is brass colored. Ideally I’d like an oil rubbed bronze finish for the trim, but would be ok with satin nickel. But I want my new shower head to match the pipe coming from the wall and the handle. Help! What can I do?

You can use a different shower head, neck and flange than the original since the elbow inside the wall is 1/2".

The actual valve trim is not universal, and, even within the same company's internal valve parts, often not interchangeable with other brands.

As said, shower arms and heads are pretty much generic unless it's an all-in-one device. But, matching up the exact color and texture can sometimes be touch unless it's a plain polished chrome.
