I've read that it is recommended to lay a mortar bed under my new Vikrell tub. I purchased some basic tile thinset, but I'm thinking others may recommend something else (deck mud?).

I'm putting this on a wood subfloor. What should I use for a mortar bed mix? And is it recommended to put a sheet of plastic between the mortar and the Vikrell tub?

Hoping to do this later today, thanks in advance for the help.

I've used quikrete mortar mix. You want something that sets up quickly.
Small piles that can squish out and allow the tub to set down all the way. Sometimes when the floor is flat enough, I just use the felt pad that comes with the tub.
