Hello. I'm first time homeowner and new to DIY plumbing. The house was a rent house before I bought it. I can tell this isn't right, but not sure what happened or how to approach this to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks -Tim

That is an "integral" drain, and NOT suitable for a WingTite replacement. For some reason the riser pipe is above the shower floor, and has to be lowed or cut off so the grid can fit properly.

I already contacted wingtite. They said their product won't help me because there's no actual drain.

I would not let that scare you off. I don't think somebody would be likely to fully understand your situation over the phone, and give you instructions. I can see why they would want you to move on. Did you look through the instructions.

Is this on a slab?
Is the pipe centered in the shower base hole?

Like hj mentions, this drain is formed into the pan. The pipe can be carefully trimmed so the the cover will drop down.

So what tool to shorten the pipe? How about a combination or curved "half round" rasp. Lift the end you hold so that it does not contact the shower base.

Okay. So I trimmed it down with an inside pvc pipe cutter, smoothed out and beveled the edges with a rotary tool, siliconed the hell out of it and added the following drain cover. It fit perfect. Hopefully it works. I'll keep ya posted
