I am contracting out a shower and have two concerns. One I think the mix valve seal is installed backwards. Also I think the corners are not properly set. Please see the photos. Any advice? Am I over reacting?

Installed on 1/2 Kerdi board. What do you all use for an odd size divergent valve seal?

Thanks

You should probably hit up the John Bridge DIY Tile Forum. Nice crew over there!

Have them put some "kerdi fix" in the gaps to be sure. But those gaps does not mean it will leak (can't tell from pictures how the kerdi is folded under the gaps)

The seal direction doesn't really matter, the fixture's eschuetion on plate will seal it fine. That seal doesn't even fit tight against the fixture, it more like a splash guard.

The direction of the valve seal does matter. The one in the picture is installed backward. It does not rely on the escutcheon "sealing it". That's not how it works.
When you put in the valve seal the correct way, it's hard to notice but there is a slope to the rim. It slopes toward the wall, meaning that any water that might leak in behind the escutcheon is channeled toward the wall and down, and no water will get into the valve hole.
