Hello,

First post but I've been lurking a long time and learning about plumbing from all you experts. Thank you for your help thus far.

I am putting in a basement shower. All the rest of the bathroom fixture connections were installed with the original build. Good, independent vent system in the basement and everything. The only problem is that they didn't put in a shower drain. So, out comes the jackhammer.

I have read that it is acceptable to turn the top 90 on a glued P trap in any configuration and be acceptable. I need a little more space to fit in my shower vent into the line and would like to rotate my P trap back upon itself some to give me a slightly longer run to allow the vent fitting to be 4 inches or more from the trap weir.

Thank you!

You can rotate. The picture below is marked to show where you want the 4 inches.
