Treating Iron Bacteria and low pH and moderate radon

7 gpm flow is quite an ask*. I'd suggest revisiting this requirement. A burst rate of 7gpm, maybe, but for any length of time you're going to struggle to obtain proper results. * Obviously, it can be done, but, as they say, just about anything can be done/achieved given enough money. IRB has...

H2S Slippage; SRB's in Centaur Carbon Bed

Running too high of a concentration of H2O2 into the carbon tank is taxing the carbon- it'll degrade the carbon (that is my understanding): anything that works will expend itself doing that work. I've always heard that injection should happen AFTER the pressure tank. I have injection post...

Filter order for drinking well water

What is in your water? Really need to know that in order to identify a solution.. Need some numbers from a lab (or if you have water testing equipment).

AIO vs just backflush - trying to sort the wheat from the chaff

OP, you need to provide water reports. I'll support Reach4's endorsement of H2O2 for iron and sulfide removal. That's what I am using: Stenner pump injecting H2O3 into a contact tank (I have iron reducing bacteria which requires contact time) and a Fleck 7100SXT (older unit) backwash filter...

Is it possible to manually/physically control valves on Fleck 7000sxt?

Following up to conclude... My filter is a Filter only. The valve only has "S" for service, "B" for backwash and "R" for rinse. New circuit board was installed and programmed and I'm back in business.

Is it possible to manually/physically control valves on Fleck 7000sxt?

My unit isn't configured for softening, no brine. Interestingly, the manual that I have and the online manuals don't show the same gear drive mechanism that I have. Mine only has "S", "B" and "R". I cannot run too long of cycles because I am using a contact tank and I cannot overrun that: I...

Is it possible to manually/physically control valves on Fleck 7000sxt?

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking. I suppose that I can try it, making sure that nothing is feeling like it's giving much resistance (not wanting to have more broken parts than I already have!). I have that manual. Looks like counterclockwise to first "B" (backwash) then to second "B"...

Is it possible to manually/physically control valves on Fleck 7000sxt?

Circuit board on my 7100sxt is dead and I'm wondering whether I can manually/physically operate the valves in order to limp along until I get a replacement board. This unit has been operating for 8 years without a single problem. This video seems to suggest that I might be able to do so (it's...

    Transition from 3/4" HDPE to 3/4" PEX-A

Thanks to a fellow forum member I've tracked down a solution (3/4" MNPT to 3/4" barb that's drinking water safe) :)

    Transition from 3/4" HDPE to 3/4" PEX-A

Hi, Terry. I'm able to find all sorts of connectors, but not the combo I need. If I was using crimp-to-fit PEX I might be able to come up with what's needed, but I'm going with PEX-A. I can come up with a mix of metal and plastic, but not metal for both. On the PEX-A side only metal (brass)...

    Transition from 3/4" HDPE to 3/4" PEX-A

I'm looking to re-plumb my manufactured home: it's currently got CPVC. Going to go with PEX-A (will only use expansion fittings). The main service line (feed from my personal well) is black poly pipe (HDPE), 3/4" ID. I cannot find an adapter to make this transition. UPONOR has a 1" one...

    Water well filtration

Any updates? I'm a bit concerned with is this comment: "what I smell is just river mud or stale water" What is the depth of your well? Are you adjacent to a river? I have a shallow well (38') and a major issue I have is with Iron Reducing Bacteria (IRB). IRB can create odors. It's present...

    Smell in well water

Be sure to thoroughly shock your distribution lines. If you have dead-ends in your plumbing they might be housing bacteria; this makes it difficult to eradicate.

    Fleck 5810 settings

^^^ As dittohead says. I would recommend that you shock your distribution lines: very few people do this. I have a separate filter housing (sans filter element) that I use for dispensing shocking liquids (it's post my final filter): I use H2O2 (which I also use as my treatment agent), but most...

    Iron bacteria

I talked to my lab in the past about iron and IRB and they said that IRB will mask their readings for iron: or something similar to that. (horse's mouth, not mine- I'm not associated with a lab, not a chemist or in any way a water specialist/professional) Not sure how much, but would assume...
