    Well pump electrical short?

Thanks for all your responses guys. My well pump contractor just fixed the problem. Turns out the pressure switch was slightly defective and the contacts were actually bent and were not making full contact. He had to bend them slightly with a pair of pliers. The cover to the pressure switch was...

    Well pump electrical short?

Thanks for your advice. However, the pressure switch is brand new. It's the 4th pressure switch inside of 8 months. My plumber always thought the pressure switch was the problem each and every time so he just kept replacing the pressure switch. I will try checking the tube. Thanks again.

    Well pump electrical short?

Hi guys. I have a quick question and I'll try to make it brief. I've been having a problem with my Meyer jet pump for about 8 months now. I had many people look at it and many parts have been replaced but no one has been able to fix it. I've finally isolated the problem to a short of some...

    Plumbing for slab on grade

Hello everyone, I'm building a new home and it's a slab on grade and all PEX water lines and sewer lines have been run underneath the slab. I also installed radiant heat PEX piping under the slab as well. I work as an industrial concrete flooring contractor and I did my plumbing design...

    Inverter for future solar power

Hello everyone, I'm building a new home and my electrician is coming in next week to wire my entire house, install the breaker box, the disconnect etc. I plan to purchase several solar panels a few years from now with hope of eventually going off the grid, but it seems more cost effective for...

    Best shallow well pump?

I got A LOT of helpful advice from everyone on this form and I'd like to get an opinion on a well pump. Lately my water has been "surging" and when it does the lights in the home often dim. I spoke to my plumber about it and off the top of his head he said it sounded like the motor on the...

    Air Conditioning & Ventilation Question

Jim, that was real helpful information. Question: Can the ductwork with the system you're describing be used under a slab? I assume so. Secondly, can you give me an idea of who makes such a system (Trane, Carrier, Goodman, Rheem, York etc)? Many of the HVAC contractors in my area are just too...

    Air Conditioning & Ventilation Question

Thanks for your comment Jim. I agreee with your ventilation concerns, and although the mini-split system may be the answer I'm going to end up with a few ugly air conditioners mounted on the inside of my home. Its not too late for me to switch to a forced air heat pump, therefore I'd like you...

    Air Conditioning & Ventilation Question

Hey guys, I have a question I'm hoping someone could answer. I'm building a new home and I'm breaking ground in 3 weeks. The house is going to be a 4" slab on grade on top of 3" of foam board with radiant heat; the walls are going to be insulated concrete forms and I'm going to have 4" of...

    Question: Geothermal Vertical Closed Loop

I'm building a new home on my existing property and I've been researching a number of different heating/cooling options and I find geothermal to be particularly appealing. Unfortunately the installation cost appears to be quite high when factoring-in the cost of the pump, piping and excavation...

    Copper or PVC?

Yea, that's what I've heard too. You would also think plastic would be more resilient to harsh water conditions and chemical attacks, as water containing a lot of contaminants would react with copper as its a natural element subject to corrosion, whereas plastic isn't.

    Increasing pressure?

Thanks for the advice! I'm new at this well stuff and I never knew these systems were so complex. This may sound like a stupid question but "is there any type of mechanism or access fitting my well contractor can install to give me access to the well so that I can bleach it myself in the...

    Copper or PVC?

"If you are talking water supply, you can't use PVC inside the structure." Yea, tell that to the modular company that constructed the home because I have nothing but PVC!...(or it may be PEX)? The drains, water supply lines everything is plastic!! That's why I asked the question because I...

    Copper or PVC?

I'm designing a large addition to my home and I see more and more homes going with PVC over copper piping. I don't know if its a cost issue, or if the industry is really moving in that direction? Is PVC as durable to pressure variations and would you recommend it to be used through out an entire...

    Increasing pressure?

Cacher, you're exactly right. I didn't know how to check the pressure...until I read your post. Here I am looking all around for a pressure gauge and I had no idea an automotive-style gauge is what you use??? Thanks! It's definitely a bladder tank based on what you describe. And based on...
