Thanks for the help. This makes a lot of sense. Based on your description it looks like my biggest issue is that my second sink's drain is too low and if I were to raise it it should solve my issue. This is so much better than what I was thinking I'd have to do. I really appreciate the help!

What if you need to solder the line? Could you freeze the pipe far enough away from the broken line so that the torch wouldn't melt the blockage ?

I had a similar problem and fixed it by adding about 4 extra windings of teflon tape... I'm not an expert so I may wrong as far as professional installation goes but it worked for a simple DIY for me...
