Moen Shower/Tub Valve Turns Off, But Then Begins to Turn On Again

I don't know how to mark this thread as 'solved,' but, anyway, I figured out what the problem was, myself, and it's rather embarrassing to admit: the plastic knob was not rotated to the correct position, when I re-attached it to the cartridge stem after replacing the cartridge. Okay, I'm an idiot.

Moen Shower/Tub Valve Turns Off, But Then Begins to Turn On Again

Hi Marlinman. Thanks for your help. I know that the 2-piece, white limit stop is used to limit the amount of hot water that comes through the faucet, but does it also affect where the knob stops, when turning the water off? Thanks again!

Moen Shower/Tub Valve Turns Off, But Then Begins to Turn On Again

Does the 'stop tube' have anything to do with that? Can it be backwards? Or those white, plastic temperature-limiting pieces?

Moen Shower/Tub Valve Turns Off, But Then Begins to Turn On Again

Hi Terry. Thanks for your reply and help. I appreciate it. I replaced it with a Moen 1222 cartridge.

Moen Shower/Tub Valve Turns Off, But Then Begins to Turn On Again

With time, the tub/shower valve was so tight and hard to turn that I could almost not turn it anymore, so I just replaced the Moen cartridge with an OEM Moen 1222 cartridge, and it now works smoothly & easily, with the water getting hotter, as it should, while being rotated counterclockwise and...

Need Advice About River Water Pump Setup

Wow, thanks for that info., Reach4. So it looks like a 1/2 h.p. submersible pump would do the trick, I guess. Not knowing anything about pumps, I'm not sure just why a submersible pump can do the job, but not a 1/2 h.p. jet pump can't, but I'll take you guys' word for it. If you would take a...

Need Advice About River Water Pump Setup

Thanks for the reply, Valveman. That's interesting. So why can a submersible pump push water so much farther than a jet pump? I'm just curious about how those work. Yesterday, I went to Ace Hardware and got an in-line reducing coupler and just bypassed the old pump (the one that froze up, down...

Need Advice About River Water Pump Setup

Hi Reach4. Thanks for taking the time to read all of that and then replying. So would a submersible do the job? (pumping enough water about 100' horizontally and about 20' vertically?) That would be nice, but the whole point of what I'm trying to figure out is whether or not I can just use the...

Need Advice About River Water Pump Setup

Hi Valveman, thanks for the reply; I appreciate your time and effort. When you say they will only suck from a max of about 24' are you talking about the 'suction' side/input side of the first pump? Or are you saying that those shallow water jet pumps will be able to push the water a max of 24'...

Need Advice About River Water Pump Setup

I live alongside a river in the Pacific Northwest (Washington) and have been pumping water out of it, every summer, in order to water my lawns and veggie garden. It has worked great. The river lies about 100 feet, horizontally, from the yard, and about 30 feet below the level of the yard (We...

Need Help Connecting Two Sections of Flexible PVC

I am running a long suction hose from the river to a pump, in order to get water for watering my lawns during the hot, dry summer. The problem is that I had to join/splice two sections of flexible PVC hose between the foot valve and the pump. Because it's on the suction side of the pump, I can't...

    Questions about Pressure Tanks

Thanks for that reply; it helped, as now I know that I can just skip the tank and leave the old one in place. That saves me a lot of time, money, and hassle. Today, I disconnected the pressure switch, plugging the spot on the pump where the tubing attached. So now, when I switch the pump...

    Questions about Pressure Tanks

I live on the bank of a river, near the mountains, in Washington, and pump water out of it for the lawns, as well as for the veggie garden, during the hot, dry summers. From the river, the water goes into an old pumphouse, where there is a pressure tank, then it continues out to the...
