Thanks, all. After I bled the radiators, the noise stopped happening. It may also be something related to the temperature in Boston getting warmer. I will check it again when it starts happening again.

Oh, I understand. Yes, this is a boiler then. I'm looking for any maintenance items I can try before I call a professional. Is there any easy thing to try such as making an adjustment or adding more water to the system before I call a plumber?

I don't think so. This is a hot water system and I don't know about any air handler.
