    New Location for water main

There is no public water supply, there was a shared well 2000 ft away that entered from the other side of the house but the pipe failed. So the question is if the new well is on the other side, is there any restriction on which water pipe the main can can tap into to supply the house?

    New Location for water main

I am considering drilling a well on the other side of my house from the current water main pipe. Can a new water main tap into any cold water pipe in the house even if on the opposite side of the current main (old main would be removed)?
