Copper pipe that wont solder.

I had a similar problem this very day changing a tankless water heater. I switched to MAP gas and cleaned the pipe as much as possible with emery cloth, then It worked just fine.

Do I Need Draino?

From my experience over time, using chemicals causes pinhole leaks in pipes and becomes a much bigger problem. Snakes help but if it is a deep clog, I would go with a drain cleaning job to be on the safe side.
