Wall hung toilet carrier on exterior wall

This thread is about an exterior wall mounted toilet, and the potential of it freezing. You also reference photo's and I have not posted any.

Guessing this was meant for another thread.

Wall hung toilet carrier on exterior wall

I would go conventional before building out an isolated wall. Space saving and aesthetics would be out the window at that point. I may consider furring the wall out a inch or two to get more insulation behind the tank if it would make a difference. A couple 1" rigid foam boards will have just as...

Wall hung toilet carrier on exterior wall

In the planning phase of a bathroom remodel. Looking into possibly installing a wall hung toilet. Both for aesthetics and space saving in a small bathroom. We live in a climate where our winters average 46° high / 22° low in the winter, but occasionally we will have single digit over nights and...

New heat pump water heater and thinking of adding hot water loop. Pump or thermosyphon?

Interesting. I had no idea they weren't legal. I can't find that written anywhere when doing research on this. I just assumed they weren't common (locally) because Its rare to have have a hot water heater in a basement (they stopped building them in my city in the 1960's), or crawlspace where...

New heat pump water heater and thinking of adding hot water loop. Pump or thermosyphon?

Good Morning, I'm going to be replacing my hot water heater in the next couple weeks with a hybrid water heater (rheem performance platinum) and also am planing on doing a bathroom remodel this summer, which is my furthest water fixture from the heater. I was looking at considering a hot water...

Sealant/joint compound on bath valve union

I would LOVE to do that. Unfortunately the original install has the tub spout too close to the handles to accommodate for the new trim piece. In the future I'll either do a new surround or tile and then I can swap it out proper. Luckily for me the wall is always open, these old houses had the...

Sealant/joint compound on bath valve union

I'm at the last connection in re-plumbing a house, and the shower/bath has a two handle valve and the hot and cold are tied in with brass unions. The unions didn't leak before, however they are older and one did show some scaling/lime on the face of it. 1. Should I clean up that scaling and...

How many codes did I break?

Small thing, but I really like the labels on the handles. I have yet to do a manifold (small rental units), but I constantly am putting hang tags on valves for tenants to identify (main, outdoor spigots, etc...). Might have to steal this idea as it looks pretty sleek, and no risk of a tag...

PEX slack when running through joists/studs with insulators

Went down to the rental to continue doing work and grab a couple photos. I currently have a 90 bend support at the ends after the last joist hole. Not sure if it would be better for me to remove it to assist with the expansion/contraction or if it would matter?

PEX slack when running through joists/studs with insulators

This is what I figured too. I currently have considerable slack at each end where it bends 90 degrees to continue parallel with the joists. I'm guessing the contraction/expansion is a concern for pipe pulling out of fittings, and not the pipe itself failing? I definitely see a problem if...

PEX slack when running through joists/studs with insulators

To make things further confusing to me, Uponor's website says this in the FAQ section: "Uponor PEX-a pipe expands at a rate of 1.1" (27.94 mm) for 100 ft. (30.48 m) of pipe for 10°F (5.56°C) temperature change. Using PEX-a Pipe Support with struts, strut clamps, clevis hangers or loop hangers...

PEX slack when running through joists/studs with insulators

I'm running PEX-a through floor joists in a basement. The basement is going to be finished, and this is the first time running them through multiple joists or studs. I picked up some of the pipe insulators that are recommended for the job, but after pulling the PEX through the longest run I...

    Exposed wall PEX in conduit

I was thinking the pipe insulation too... obviously last tenants used those blue pool noodles to "protect" the galvanized, or themselves from bumping in to it. New tenants moving in have 3 and 5 year old boys. That makes me a bit nervous so that's where I was thinking conduit, but I may be over...

    Exposed wall PEX in conduit

I've replaced all the galvanized lines in a duplex of mine with expansion PEX except where the supply lines come in at the bottom of a basement and go up a wall. Photo is attached. The two supply lines coming into a duplex that are galvanized. Changing the supply lines from the meter to the...
