How to size and plan the recirculation circuit?

I did think a about doing it that way beforehand, except then I would have needed much bigger pex. I actually simplified the drawing quite a bit - I have 3 bathrooms on the 2nd floor and a laundry room, so to get enough water to run everything at once, then I would have needed 1" pipe to the...

How to size and plan the recirculation circuit?

That's a good point - I guess when the pump goes it will not even pull water in from the farthest fixture (powder room), it will just get water from the closest fixture and biggest pipe (master) and then not anything else? So, then what do I do? If I run 3 separate lines to each fixture and...

How to size and plan the recirculation circuit?

I have just finished with my PEX supply lines to all the bathrooms and kitchen, and now I am ready to install the recirculation line. I have a 2 story house with my HWH in the basement, a powder room and kitchen on the first floor and bathrooms upstairs. They each have a separate pex line...

How warm can hydronic floors get?

Thank you, Dana, for your comments. It is comforting to hear that my target temps are possible with the typical Seattle temps. I will certainly keep a separate floor thermostat in the system to keep things from getting too warm.

How warm can hydronic floors get?

Well, I have some electrically heated floors in my current house and the IR heat sensor says they are 78 degrees, but the air temp is the same as the rest of the house (heated via elect baseboards) at 70 degrees. So, I don't think the room will get too warm. If anything the bathrooms feel...

How warm can hydronic floors get?

Thanks for all your thoughts. I have put this project on hold. I was reading Chapter 8 of the Complete Design Assistance Manual (CDAM) on the Uponor website: http://www.uponorpro.com/en/Technical-Support/Manuals.aspx I worked through the examples and the tables in the appendix and I think...

How warm can hydronic floors get?

Thanks for your feedback. I got my plans for the "open direct" system from these guys: http://www.radiantec.com/faq/faq04.php They seem to be telling me that it is an efficient way to go and that 80 degree floor might be possible with 130 degree water. Then again, they are trying to sell me...

How warm can hydronic floors get?

Hi, I have already installed part of this system, but I am worried that the floors won't get warm enough for someone in the family who loves really warm (80 deg) tile floors in the bathroom. Here's my setup: Wirsbo/Aquapex 1/2" tubing *** Wirsbo Joist Trak - 2 parallel per joist bay ***...

Can I put laundry valves and hose behind a stacked washer/dryer?

Thanks for your comments! Chad, I like your idea of putting on the side - maybe I will try that. I also really like the waterproof pan you put under the washer. Should I do that, too? How often do these things fail?

Can I put laundry valves and hose behind a stacked washer/dryer?

Am I a DIY-er roughing in my laundry room now. I am hoping to put my washer/dryer in a stacked position to the left of my laundry sink. To the left of my washer/dryer is the corner of the room. Directly above my laundry sink are windows. So, I am wondering if I can put my washer hose...

Sanitary tee on back for venting toilet

Hi, I'm a new member here and have been browsing the forum trying to get an answer to this question, but it seems like half the threads say it is ok to do this and half say it is not ok. My question is: can I use a 3" sanitary tee on its back with the 2" opening going straight up vertically (as...
