Plumbing basement shower drain

Hi all, putting a shower pan base in basement due to height, plan to keep it as close to floor as possible. The drain 2” is very close to ground and has concrete around it.

I don’t think a sealant type drain will work due to size unless I go with a 1.5 inch and put it into the 2” pipe and seal it. Definitely not much pipe to hold the rubber seal for a screw type shower drain adapter.

Was thinking of cutting the drain adapter and using marine epoxy or polyurethane weld. The shower pan will be held down with expanding foam so minimal flex later.

Any thoughts? Another option should be to use a screw in surface drain adapter.

Are you calling your picture a shower pan, just not clear what you're saying? if so, you need to chip the floor a little and attach a drain to the base.

Thanks, yes, the pan (aka base) is already in the picture, the white one. The black drain pipe 2" is in the middle. As you can see the drain is 1/4-1/2 inch above ground only so will have to chip quite a lot (2" or 3" or so) to have the drain assembly you mention fixed. Was hoping to not cut the concrete that deep and use the top cover of this below which screws into 2" base and just use pvc cement or another adapter instead and glue the whole thing in with epoxy to water proof it.

That's just not the correct drain type. I know nobody wants to chip concrete, but the one I posted has the big nut on the back so you can lock it to the base. did you try tapping around the edge of the PVC and see if it sounds hollow?

Some people wrap the pipe with a foam cover or a foam wrapper just under the slab, so you pick it out that way. last thing you want is for that drain to leak because of a little chipping of the concrete. yes, a pain but a chipping hammer can do it pretty quick.

Yes I tried to drill with a concrete bit around it and it’s all solid concrete unfortunately. I could raise the whole floor but it’s already a low 80”ceiling. Thx for your advise.
