My hot water lines are banging when faucets are shut off. It doesn't happen with the cold water. It seems to be at or around the hot water tank. I have a system 2000 with a 40 gal tank that came with the system. Ive drained the tank. Not sure if the expansion tank has anything to do with it. I took it out and it still bangs.

Is this a new symptom, or has it always done this? Has any plumbing work been done recently? ANy other remodeling?

I did that and it is still banging
Do you get a single bang when you close a hot water faucets, whether you close fast or slow?

Heat traps on the water heater can make noises.

I was thinking heat traps on the water heater too.
Maybe change those out to see, not trapped of course.
