Hello - I was wondering if someone who knows more than me could suggest or confirm best settings for a water softener for efficient salt usage.

Hardness is 25 grains. There should be no iron, hydrogen sulfide, manganese making it to the softener.

I have a 13x54 tank with a fleck 2510 sxt with 2.5 cuft resin

I have hardness set at 25, capacity set at 50, and BF set at 8.

Thank You!

I would raise H to 26 for a little more high-hardness compensation.

Table below has C and BF pairs to consider.

The less salt per cubic ft, the more salt efficient, but more hardness breakthrough.
Revised based on number from https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/help-for-programming-fleck-5810.82673/#post-595983
BLFC = 0.5
cubic ft resin = 2.5

Alternative C and BF pairs:
lb/cuft ; C= ; BF=
2.400 ; 29.2 ; 4
3.000 ; 34.6 ; 5; More salt efficient, but not great softening.
3.600 ; 39.2 ; 6
4.200 ; 43.2 ; 7
4.800 ; 46.7 ; 8 ; What you are running. More salt-efficient than most people.
5.400 ; 49.8 ; 9
6.000 ; 52.5 ; 10; The least salt most people use when trying to save salt and have good softening.
6.600 ; 55.0 ; 11
7.200 ; 57.3 ; 12
7.800 ; 59.3 ; 13; Better softening, reasonable salt usage many would choose this.
8.400 ; 61.2 ; 14
9.000 ; 62.9 ; 15
9.600 ; 64.5 ; 16; Less salt-efficient.
