I need to buy a water softner, please advise/comment on the choices. I am located in Peoria, IL. There are 3 people living in the house.

1. Water quality
Illinois American water test results:

http://www.illinoisamwater.com/files/IL_1435030_CCR.pdf

I also had Culligan and Ecowater do an in-home water test. Results:
Culligan
Hardness: 23 GPG
TDS: 550
pH: 7.5
Iron: 0

E cowater:
Hardness: 26 GPG
TDS: 630
pH: 7.5
Iron: 0

2. Capacity:
http://www.qualitywatertreatment.com/water_softener_sizing.htm
This calculator recommends a 48,000 grain capacity

3. Water softner choices:
Culligan Medalist, $1300
Ecowater ESD 518, $1300
Fleck 7000SXT based softner, $560 (or so online)

After reading a few posts, I found a few places online that sell water softners with the Fleck 7000SXT valve (Clack WS-1 seems to be a good alternative, but I've never seen them for sale). People recommend them as reliable, cost-effective products and generally a good choice.

Option 1:
Fleck 7000SXT Meter Water Softener
Sold by Quality Water for Less
http://www.qualitywaterforless.com/Fleck_7000SXT_Meter_48000_p/f-r48-70sxt.htm

Questions:
1. Is this a reliable company? Anyone have any experience with them?
2. Brine tank size: 14x34, 18x33, 18x40?
3. Resin: high capacity resin, ResinTech CG8 or Fine Mesh Resin?
4. Turbulator: I don't think I need it, but it seems like using underbedding is a good idea.

Option 2:
Fleck 7000SXT Meter Water Softener
Sold by OhioPureWaterCo
http://www.ohiopurewater.com/shop/customer/product.php?productid=18651&cat=632&page=1#

Questions:
1. Is this a reliable company? Anyone have any experience with them?
2. Brine tank size: 15x17x36 rect or 18x33 round?
3. Softnening Resin: do I need the fine mesh or sst60?

General questions:
1. Any other retailers (online or not) that I should look into?
2. Where's a good place to get the underbedding?

Thank you for you time

Ohio Pure Water

Highly recommend Ohio Pure Water. They were recommended to me by friends and neighbor. Totally satisfied with their assistance during install. I purchased Clack WS1 but now I understand they can't sell Clack anymore. I certainly would not hesitate on Fleck units.

Your water report says 300 to 600 ppm, which is 18 to 36 grains.

I would go with the Fleck 5600SXT controller, because it has not been end-of-lifed.

Resin: high capacity resin, ResinTech CG8 or Fine Mesh Resin?
Go with 10% crosslinked resin with your chlorinated water.
