: Sylvan, I can't believe your supply house doesn't stock lead rings. Mine stock 4x1-1/2, 4x2, 4x3, 4x4 and 4x6. I guess we're a little bit backwards here in the SF bay area.
We use either NH ot Caulked or MJ. If you think about it using a Caulked WC Flange is actually one of the better jobs as your using oakum and 1" depth of lead so your insuring a gas and water tight connection with added steanth og no seams between the ONE POUR leaded joint. If I have to reduce a caulked fitting I use a cast iron reduced inside the fitting SEE JR Smith reducers we use in roof drain And floor drains
