Replacing Copper water Lines with CPVC

I would like to replace my leaking hot water lines with CPVC. I have read some things about the glue eventually leaching into the water supply. Is that a real problem?

My main reason for making the switch is sweating the copper lines is difficult in the house due to the proximity of the water line to the ceiling in the basement. (Some of the line is below the finished ceiling and some is above it.) Also, the general pain that comes with sweating copper, getting the water out of the line before soldering etc. I have replaced several pieces with copper already but each time I fix one leak another one appears. Including the worst one yet that appeared last night. I am currently turning off the hot water when we are not at home.

Is using the CPVC a good or bad idea? What are the cons?
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

John
