REMODELING OLD BATHROOM

I BOUGHT AN 80 YEAR OLD HOUSE AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF REMODELING THE BATHROOM. I WANT TO MOVE THE OLD RADIATOR ACROSS THE ROOM WHICH MEANS DISCONNECTING IT AND RE-ROUTING THE LINES TO GET TO THE NEW LOCATION. WHAT IS THE PROPER WAY TO LEAK CHECK THE CONNECTIONS AFTER REINSTALLATION -DO I CHECK IT COLD, OR FIRE UP THE BOILER AND CHECK IT WITH HOT WATER? ALSO, I SEE SO MANY NEWER HOMES WITH NO ACCESS TO BATHTUB/SHOWER PLUMBING - SHOULD I FOLLOW THIS NEW TREND OR PROVIDE ACCESS TO THESE PIPES?
