: I'm having problems flushing. It needs someone with a LOT of strength or a small hammer in order to get the flusher working. The flusher is located in the middle of the toilet lid. Can something be adjusted or fixed?

You will need to take the tank lid off and inspect the flushing mechanism, maybe something can be lubricated or adjusted to help make flushing easier. If you need to press that hard to flush, something is going to break soon and the toilet will become inoperable.
Check a local plumbing supply house if new parts are needed.
