In response to Re: New Water Line for Refrigerator
: The copper water line and valve need to be replaced on my refrigerator (approx. 10 feet) - An appliance repair place wants to use plastic instead of copper and quoted me a price of $250 - sounds like highway robbery to me, but what do I know....would it be better for me to hire a plumber for this job? I thought the problem was with the ice maker, but it's not. Thanks for any insight and advice.

In my area the appliance service people are often more than a plumber. They have service and office charges going on in addition to hourly charges. If I had to install a new valve in place of a saddle valve and run copper behind cabinets I would be in the $150. to $200. range.
