: We have old assemblies and handles installed in original plumbing in our bath. Do the female threaded couplings/("T's") in the original copper tubing have to be changed in order to install new assemblies? We'd like to have a new style/manufacturer, but the same type - Hot, Cold, and Diverter. In other words - completely change the "guts" to a new mfgr.

There are 3 valve faucets (pressure balanced) available but they're expensive, if the wall is going to be opened why not install a single handle pressure balanced faucet with volume control?. Delta & Moen are affordable, reliable brands and the finish holds up for years. Parts are easy to locate down the road for repairs.
