IMO you cannot beat a cast iron fixture. They basically last a lifetime. Americast is lighter, easier to handle and less expensive than cast iron but you get what you pay for. Many people actually consider it "a replacement for cast iron". Never happen.
I have seen some Americast kitchen sinks that are only a couple of years old that are beat up pretty bad. My 15 year old cast iron Kohler kitchen sink takes a beating and still looks new.
