"Stacked Toilets" - How to vent lower toilet?
Posted by LarryK on June 07, 2004 at 18:44:46:
Another question that I am sure will sound dumb to the pros. In plumbing my son's home, the second floor toilet is directly above the first floor toilet. The closet el for the second floor toilet runs directly into the main stack right behind the tank so it is simple to vent using the main stack (other vents but no fixtures tie into the main stack above the toilet). The first floor toilet could tie directly into the main stack right behind the tank as well. Can the main stack be used as a "wet" vent for this toilet or do I somehow have to have a separate vent for the toilet that ties in to the main stack above the flood level of the second floor fixtures? If I cannot do that, how are "stacked" toilets normally vented? Thanks in advance.
