: I've just finished roughing in the basement plumbing in our son's home - bathroom plus laundry. The horizontal lines will all be covered with soil before the basement is poured. All that will be encased in concrete are the stubs coming up for the drains and vents. Should the stubs be wrapped in something where they will be in contact with the concrete? The DWV system is all PVC leading to a sewerage ejector pit. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I use sill seal to wrap the pipe where it comes in contact with the concrete. I generally bring up a 3" pipe for my closet flange and sleeve this with a piece of 4". This gives me enough room to install the flange, but not so much space that I cannot screw the flange to the concrete. The pipe must be protected where it would come in contact with the concrete--either sleeved or wrapped.
