I have an 8 year old house and over the weekend we noticed wet carpet in several rooms that back up to bathrooms. A plumber came in and said that the pipes coming up through the slab were insulated with duct-tape instead of foam and we need to replace all of the piping because the concrete slab is corroding the pipes. 1. Does this seem correct? 2. Do we have any recourse against a possibly inept builder? I have no knowledge of plumbing and want to make sure I'm not being taken for a ride. Would certainly appreciate any advise.
