Thanks, Clayton. You have given me some helpful advice. : If that drain assembly is heavy brass then yes i would consider it to be a good quality style of drain. While Zurn, Josam, Wade, Jay Smith and several others make top quality heavy duty shower/floor drains I haven't seen them designed for manufactured fiberglass or acrylic shower units or bases, especially being made of cast iron and bronze. However if these companies do make such drain assemblies for manufactured showers they are sure to be well worth their money. I prefer to use the heavy brass drains as you have pictured with neoprene quick caulk gasket and brass caulking/packing nut. :
