In response to Re: Whole house water pressure
: : A plumber recently told me our water pressure from the street is too high at 81 psi. He attached a valve to an outside faucet to measure it--I saw the reading myself.
: : We just moved into this house, so we don't know the plumbing history. How do I know this guy is not just trying to rip us off?
: : If it is too high, how do we fix it?
: : thanks.

: You dont fix it YOU hire a plumber to "fix it" BUT you did not state where you live and NYC allows water pressure under 85 PSI so 84 PSI is still legal.

: Check your local codes to be sure

thanks for the quick response. We are in Georgia-I will check local codes. Will the higher pressure harm the faucets/toilets? We DO seem to be having trouble with our toilets (won't stop running) and last week the aerator fell out of the kitchen faucet.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound as if all plumbers are dishonest. We have had a bad experience and that has made us wary.
