Our hot water heater has been dripping water out of the long copper pipe onto the concrete basement floor. The water heater is about 5 years old and so is the Therm-X-Trol expansion tank. I lowered the pressure of the water coming into the house but this did nothing. A plumber told me that I probably need to replace the T&P valve on the water heater, or replace the expansion tank. Does this sound correct? The T&P valve is only about $5 at Home Depot but I haven't been able to find a price on the expansion tank. Which should I try first? Thanks Martha |
