No way to gain much. There are flanges that have a little offset, but not enough to make up the kind of distance you are looking for. There are just 2 things I can think of that you can do. First and best way is to have a plumber relocate the drain to the proper location. I joists are in the way, it might take some creative carpentery, be it can be done. The other thing is to build a wall behind the fixture. This will not gain you any floor space, but the toilet will look like it is in the right place. I stayed in a motel recently that had a toilet set with at least a 12" space between the tank and the wall. Fairly new structure too. It did look like it would be easy for the maid to clean the floor, but I haven't a clue as to the real reason it was done that way.
