I don't know if I can explain any better than Deb already has, but let me try. You raised the temperature from 120 to 130. That may not seem like it is that much, but that's a 10% increase. Your pressure it too high, apparently always has been although I don't know that. Max pressure recommended for a house is about 60 psi. You are 150% over that. You were exceeding the limits with the old heater and perhaps were just a bit lucky. You changed the game when you boosted the temp by 10%, but even if you set it back, you're over the recommended limits and trusting to luck.
