: I am removing my old cracked fiberglass shower enclosure. I would like to go to tile. I have the pan ready for hot mopping, I was thinking of using duroc for the wall board and attaching the tiles to that. I have been told that wire screen and a cement mixture is far superior and much more waterproof. I wonder if anyone else has used the duroc cement board and had waterproofing failures?

Most of the new or replacement stall showers I come across are installed with cement board on the walls (Durarock). I would be more concerned about the "hot mop". I have seen them fail in a few short years numerous times. I would suggest a membrane liner attached to a strainer over a hot mop job, just MO.
