Are you sure that is where the leak is? Even though the connection is not "proper" it should seal. : Is the Fluidmaster seal a better solution to use over a ceramic tile than wax rings. I had the same plumber out twice and still have seepage through the wax he added to the old wax. The toilet is held down with two brass wood screw/machine screw studs through the flange. Flange bolts were not used because the plumber said the flange is damaged but it should hold.
