: Depending on the physical condition of the piping and how much you want to spend on this project will determine if the pipes should be replaced now.

The lead pipe looks to be in decent condition. no sign of any leak at all. BUt just how long can a lead pipe really last. Going on 55 plus years unless it is VERY expensive the smart thing to do would be replace it right?? Would white PVC be able to be used for toilet waste pipe. Keep in mind this is a small horizontal pipe coming right from the toilet running maybe 2 foot, then connecting to a cast iron run that goes straight down to the basement.
