The NEC permits 1/8" gap between finsihed wall and junction box. 1/2" = 4/8 so you have a 1/8 gap.
If you can, as Gary suggests renail them if it makes you feel better. The boxes are about 18 cents (Single gang) at home Depot, so if you break any, no big loss. But under normal circumstances, if you can access the nails you can pull out the boxes.
: It won't be impossible to compensate for the difference. You will have to use 1/8" spacers between the box and the switch/outlet so they will be flush with the wall. That said, if the walls are still open and the boxes easily accessed, I'd be inclined to renail them.
