|In response to Re: cast iron transition to ABS or PVC|
: I am remodeling by basement, and I have a 4" ID cast iron pipe flush with the concrete slab. The cast iron goes approx 18" straight down before turning towards the main soil stack. The finish floor will be approximatly 10" above the concrete floor. I do not know how to extend a 3" ID pipe 10" to attach a closet flange too. Do you have any suggestions?
Since you already have 4", I would stay with the 4". There is really no advantage to bushing this down and it's another fitting to install that you really don't need. Then you can use a closet flange that fits inside the 4" pipe.
