: For a bathroom sink installation I have 1-1/2 inch ABS coming out between two studs for the drain. I have trimmed the ABS as short as it can go from the wall and I have attached the adaptor to the ABS to accept the chrome wall tube. I want to attach a chrome P-Trap because it is a wall mounted sink and the hardware will be exposed. The sink drain is only about 5.5 inches from the finished wall. With a hacksaw, I have trimmed down the wall tube from 7-1/2 inches to about 4 inches (as short as I could get it) and still the vertical part of the j bend is still not lined up with the bottom of the drain (It is an inch further out). Is it ok to turn the P Trap sideways? (Although, this looks funny). What are my other options. Do they make a special "low clearance" p trap assembly?

Have you considered a J trap 11/2" as some codes do not allow the use of 11/4 traps
